How is everyone doing so far? Are you over organizing all your drawers and closets, and baking every yummy recipe you come across on Instagram? We feel the same. Let’s focus on something we all have an interest in these days- healthy living. Never has it been more important, and that means not only self-care, but the health of the environment you live in and how you minimize your carbon footprint. We at House Warmings are seekers of beauty in all things, and now look to source products that are not only beautiful, but functional and sustainable. We want to sell products that are going to last for years to come, products made from upcycled natural materials that we can consciously stand behind.
Here are some of our favourite eco-products:
Re-usable mesh bags
These organic cotton mesh bags are great to take to the grocery store and fill with all your fruits and vegetables. Store your produce in the refrigerator in the bags to keep them organized. They eliminate the use of plastic bags, and they can be washed in cold water and left to dry. These bags are also handy for organizing travel or gym clothes.

Dryer balls
Alpaca dryer balls are more effective than dryer sheets at softening laundry, reducing static, removing wrinkles, and reducing dryer time, thereby saving energy and costs. Simply use 3 dryer balls with your regular load. If you want to add a scent to your laundry, put 2-3 drops of your favourite essential oil on the balls and put them in after the clothes are dry for about 10 minutes.
Bamboo straws
Did you know that half a billion plastic straws are used worldwide daily? These bamboo straws are compatible and bio-degradable, can be used for both hot and cold beverages, and eliminate the exposure to toxins from plastic straws. They are sold as a box of 6 with a small thin brush to allow you to clean the insides of the straws- how clever is that?
Turkish Towels
Turkish towels are known for being quick dry, highly absorbent, with an unparalleled weave that makes them extremely durable. They are naturally anti-bacterial and dry 30% faster than regular towels. Compact and lightweight, they can also be used as a scarf, shawl or blanket, both indoors and out. Turkish artisans have been making them for centuries, using fair traded, ethically sourced materials. We love that they are beautiful to look at yet so utilitarian.
