Guest Bedroom Essentials

Although we are not travelling as much this year, we may be hosting more family or guests for overnight stays. Is your guest bedroom hotel ready? Well, if not, we’ll give you some ideas on the basic essentials, and the little luxuries that will make your guests feel welcome and extra special during their stay.

Design by House Warmings

Let's talk about the essentials in this beautiful guest room. The modern nightstands are custom designed, and specified to the same height as the mattress for ease of use. The drawers are great for additional storage as well. Our Clive bed is clean and contemporary in the space yet provides softness with the neutral upholstery. Ample lighting beside the bed is important for nighttime reading and also adds another layer of light in the room.

A soft carpet to land on is another essential.  Aim for one that is made of soft materials, like wool, cotton or viscose, like the Juno rug shown.  And make sure you have at least 1-2 feet of carpet exposed beyond all sides of the bed.  If you have the space, a bench at the end of the bed is a functional piece that allows guests to place their luggage or put their shoes on.

Good quality bedding is also important. There is nothing like slipping into beautiful, soft, high thread count sheets at the end of a long day. Our White Terry sheets pictured below are made of 100% organic cotton with a 400 thread count. Super soft and breathable, the fitted sheet is extra deep and has long and short side labels inside for easy bed making. Layering your bedding with a duvet and a coverlet or throw at the end of the bed gives your guests options for sleeping under lighter or heavier layers. And we always like to use a mixture of Euro shams, sleeping pillows and decorative pillows on the bed for a comfortable, luxurious look.

Now, if you want to look like a super host, here's some ideas for the little luxuries you can add to make guest room look and feel like a five star hotel:

Books or magazines
Carafe of water and glasses
Snacks in a basket such as small bags of popcorn, nuts or fresh fruit
Fresh flowers
Travel clock
Plush, comfy robe and slippers
Oversized bamboo bath towels
Wall mounted mirror
Charging station with a tray for tech accessories
Bath bar soaps and bath salts
Travel hair dryer

All of the products featured above are available through House Warmings.  We hope we've inspired you to create your own guest oasis in your home. Just make sure you let them know upfront how long they can stay!!
