Boucle is Back!

Well, the cooler temps these days find us craving warmth and comfort in the form of crackling fires and warm textures.  Our love for everything textured and nubbly comes alive this season.  One of the ongoing trends this year is boucle fabric- a nubbly textile made from a yarn of fittingly curled fibers.  Boucle fabric dates back to the 1940’s, when Florence Knoll requested that Eero Saarinen design a chair she could really curl up in.  Hence, the introduction of the Saarinen Womb chair, which was upholstered in a classic boucle fabric.

Boucle is a flexible fabric used for different treatments- heavy enough to provide acoustic absorption for a window treatment, yet soft enough to use for a pillow.  Here are some of our favourite chairs upholstered in a boucle fabric.  All are available to shop online- just click on the image for further details.  Think about how you can incorporate this beautiful fabric into your home....stay warm my friends!
